Teacher Vanessa is the Academic Head of Hurlyvale Pre School and Hurlyvale Pre-Primary School. Her journey into education began in 1987 when she graduated from the Johannesburg College of Education. In 1991 she left teaching to be a full time mom. In 1997 she joined the Hurlyvale Primary School Family, initially for a maternity post. She ended up staying for 23 years.
In 2017 Teacher Vanessa was chosen to lead the Individual Education Programme department at Hurlyvale Primary School and she was promoted to joint Foundation Phase Head of Department from 2019.
During this period her interest in School Readiness, academic skills development and learning through play was re-ignited.
Teacher Vanessa has completed the required First Aid and Firefighting courses
Teacher Monique teaches the Grade R Grasshopper class. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Foundation Phase Education. Her interests are crafting, fashion, and she also enjoys planning trips on her motorcycle. She is married with two step-children. She has been teaching for 8 years. Her philosophy in education is that every child is different and develops at their own pace.
Teacher Monique is registered with the South African Council of Educators and has completed the required basic first aid training.
Teacher Max teaches the Grade R Butterfly class. She has her Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences and Social Services Psychology. She is also a registered Wellness Counsellor with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners, focused on Child Counselling. She has been teaching for 20 years and has her National Certificate in Reception Year Teaching and National Certificate in Early Childhood Development from the University of South Africa.
Teacher Max is registered with the South African Council of Educators and has completed the required basic First Aid Training.
Teacher Jade teaches the Grade R Ladybird Class. She has a Bachelors Degree in Foundation Phase teaching. She is married with a little boy. Teacher Jade started her journey at Hurlyvale Pre-Primary School as a Learnership in 2017. She has been teaching for four years. Teaching children has always been her passion. Her teaching philosophy is fun, interactive, creative and messy, learning through play.
Teacher Jade is registered with the South African Council of Educators and has completed the required basic first aid training.
Teacher Elmary is a Learnership at Hurlyvale Pre-Primary School. She is currently a third year student at University of South Africa, persuing a Bachelors Degree in Foundation Phase Education. She enjoys reading, travelling and she loves spending time with children and her loved ones. She is a mom to one son.
Teacher Elmary is registered with the South African Council of Educators and has completed the required basic First Aid training
Teacher Jacqui teaches the Grade R Bumblebee Class. She has her NQF level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Development and is currently completing her second year of her studies towards her Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Education.
She has 22 years of teaching experience and teaching children is her passion. Teacher Jacqui is currently the Head Teacher at Hurlyvale Pre-Primary School and has been a member of staff since it’s inception in 2011. Her philosophy is that she starts each day in her class with a clean slate. Teacher Jacqui is mom to 3 sons.
Teacher Jacqui is registered with the South African Council of Educators and has completed the required basic First Aid training.
